Star Hotshots pounced on hapless KIA Picanto side from tip-off to earn an easy 128-81 victory in the 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Hotshots improved to 6-4 after notching the important win to tie Rain or Shine at sixth spot in the standings. On the other hand, KIA ended its disappointing campaign with 0-11 record.

The one-sided affair allowed all Star players to see action and contribute at least two points apiece, with Kristofer Acox tallying 19 points and 15 boards in just 29 minutes and rookie Jio Jalalon chipping in 15 markers and seven assists.

PJ Simon and Ian Sangalang led the bench with 13 and 12 points, respectively, Marc Pingris joined the 5,000-point club with his 12 points on top of nine rebounds and five assists, while Mark Barroca rounded up the players in double figures with 10 markers.

Up just eight at the end of opening period, 32-24, the Hotshots went on a 33-12 onslaught the next quarter for a 65-36 lead at the half, before registering their largest advantage at 49 points, 128-79, off a throwdown by Pingris in the waning seconds.
