The 12th Southeast Asia Basketball Association Championship is the ongoing qualifying tournament for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup. It also serves as a regional championship involving Southeast Asian basketball teams. It is being held at (Smart Araneta Coliseum)from 12 to 18 May 2017 in the Philippines.

SEABA: Thailand holds off Singapore, virtually secures 3rd place.
Thailand is virtually assured of finishing in third place in the Southeast Asian Basketball Association Championship after holding off Singapore, 67-57, on Wednesday at Araneta Coliseum.
With the victory, Thailand finished the tournament with a 4-2 win-loss record, losing only to Indonesia and the Philippines. The latter two squads are set to contest the gold medal on Thursday night.
Chitchai Ananti, held scoreless by Gilas Pilipinas on Wednesday night, bounced back by scoring 17 points before having to leave at the 9:44 mark of the fourth period after getting hit in the ribs, with Thailand clinging to a 59-51 advantage.
Klahan’s midrange jumper at the 5:11 mark gave Thailand a double-digit spread, 67-56, and Singapore wasted several chances to cut into the deficit with its poor passing and outside shooting.
Samerjai finished with 15 points, while Klahan added 10 markers. Thailand shot 48.15% from the field in the game.
Larry Liew scored 17 points for Singapore, who now have a 1-4 record in the SEABA Championships. They conclude their tournament on Thursday against Vietnam.
