MANILA, Philippines – Vietnam barged into the win column in the 2017 SEABA Championship by demolishing Myanmar, 77-44, on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.
One day after losing to Thailand by 27 points, 76-49, Vietnam pounced on tournament minnows Myanmar, who were coming off a 107-point loss against hosts Philippines.
Nguyen Van Hung, a three-time taekwondo gold medalist in the Southeast Asian Games, powered Vietnam with 22 points on 11-of-18 shooting, while also grabbing 15 rebounds.
Dang Thai Hung (10 points, 10 rebound), and Le Phuong Thang (11 point, 10 rebounds) also finished in double-digits for Vietnam.
Myanmar took a very brief lead when Myat Aye Kaung made one of two free throws at the 9:05 mark of the opening frame, but Tran Vu Linh scored on a lay-up just six seconds later, and Vietnam never trailed again.
