The San Miguel Beermen rose from a huge hole to defeat the Blackwater Elite, 124-113, in their 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup clash on Wednesday night at the Cuneta Astrodome.
With a combined effort, the Beermen only needed the first four minutes of the third quarter to get back and tie the ball game, 74-all, after being down by 16 points at the end of the first half.
Marcio Lassiter put up 21 markers and four assists as three more players scored in double figures for San Miguel. Chris Ross went for a double-double of 14 points and 13 dimes while bench players Arwind Santos and Gabby Espinas produced 13 and 10 markers, respectively.
Greg Smith led the Elite with 21 points, 22 rebounds and five dimes, Niño Canaleta, Michael Digregorio and Mark Cruz all chipped in 16 markers apiece but their efforts still weren’t enough to give their team a winning exit in the tournament, ending their campaign with a 2-9 slate.
