The 12th Southeast Asia Basketball Association Championship is the ongoing qualifying tournament for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup. It also serves as a regional championship involving Southeast Asian basketball teams. It is being held at (Smart Araneta Coliseum)from 12 to 18 May 2017 in the Philippines.

Singapore met little resistance on their way to their first 2017 SEABA Championships Tuesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. In a battle between listless teams, it was the Singaporeans who won over the Burmese, 85-32.

Big man Lavin Raj led Singapore in scoring with 19 points. He added five rebounds and three blocks.

Zao Chia, Wei Kwek and Johrathon Check all chimed in double-digits in the scoring column to help Raj on offense. The three cagers combined for 34 markers in the first match of the tournament’s Day Five hostilities.

Singapore faces Thailand next, while Myanmar locks horns with Indonesia both on Wednesday.
