May 13, 2016 Game 4 Alaska Aces proved the team still alive, after winning game match final score result 111-99. The Alaska Aces and its newly-crowned Best Player of the Conference Calvin Abueva showed plenty of fight in Game 4, beating Rain or Shine, 111-99, to avoid a sweep of the Oppo PBA Commissioner’s Cup finals on Friday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Alaska import Rob Dozier posted 23 points and eight rebounds while Chris Banchero added 17 points and eight assists as the Aces cut their series deficit down to 3-1.
Abueva, who was awarded the conference’s top individual award before the game, had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in the win.
Three other Aces – RJ JAzul, Sonny Thoss, and Cyrus Baguio, finished in double figures in scoring.
Abueva came in from off the bench at the 5:33 mark of the first quarter and immediately made his presence felt, scoring eight points and grabbing four boards in his limited time in the opening period.
Alaska then made its big move in the second quarter, when the Aces went on a 12-4 run. Abueva started things off with a basket that kicked off six straight points before a trey from Baguio and a three-point play from Banchero gave them their first double-digit lead, 41-31.
With their press kicking into high gear later in the period, Alaska was able to rattle off nine unanswered points as they forced Rain or Shine to misses and turnovers as they stretched their lead to 15 big points.
