The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters got back to the winning track and did it in style, walloping the NLEX Road Warriors with a 27-point rout, 121-94, in the OPPO PBA Commissioner’s Cup Friday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Seven players scored in double digits for Rain or Shine (2-3) which snapped a three-game skid.
Import Antoine Wright led the attack with 20 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Jewel Ponferrada added 15 markers and Raymond Almazan had 14.
Jericho Cruz, Jeff Chan and JR Quinahan each chipped in 12 markers while Mav Ahanmisi added 10 points.
It was all Rain or Shine from start to finish. The Elasto Painters scored 15 unanswered points to notch a 23-8 advantage in the first quarter.
Rain or Shine remained on top from then on but couldn’t pull away until the fourth period when Ponferrada hit nine quick points to open the final frame.
His layup with 9:56 left gave Rain or Shine a 94-74 lead which ballooned to as much as 29 points in garbage time.
Al Thornton finished with 19 points to lead NLEX (2-3) which dropped its second straight game.
