Purefoods Star Hotshots vs Barako Dec 13 – Philippine Cup 2015

PBA Philippine Cup Purefoods Star Hotshots vs Barako December 13, 2015 Sunday, Game Match-up venue held in Smart Araneta Coliseum @ 3:00 pm.

Jeric Fortuna tallied 14 points – all of them in the lopsided fourth quarter – while Mick Pennisi also finished with 14 markers, including four three-pointers.

Star fell to 3-7, good enough for just ninth place in the conference standings. Mark Barroca had 17 points and seven assists for the Hotshots. James Yap scored 12 points but needed 17 shot attempts to garner his total.

The teams were deadlocked at 45-apiece with contrasting first half performances.

Barako Bull had some great individual showings from Intal and Urbiztondo, who scored 15 and 14 points respectively over the first two periods.

Star, meanwhile, did not have a player with more than seven points but had 10 different Hotshots, led by Ian Sangalang, contributing to the cause.

In the third, the Hotshots went on an 11-2 run that gave them a 65-54 advantage at the 5:58 mark of the period.

But the Energy were able to battle back behind some three-point sniping from Pennisi and Urbiztondo as they trimmed their deficit down to just four, 71-67, at the end of the quarter.

Barako Bull then opened the fourth on a 21-2 run with Urbiztondo getting the show started with a three-pointer and a split from the free throw line that tied the game at 71-all.

Wilson scored four straight – two on free throws and two more on a jumper inside the paint – while Fortuna capped the run first with a triple from the corner off a pass from Intal and then with a stepback jumper that made it 13 unanswered points to open the period.

Star’s Yousef Taha finally ended his team’s drought with a hook shot over five minutes into the fourth quarter but by then his team was already behind, 80-73, at that point.

But Barakoo weren’t through as Wilson scored on a strong drive to the basket and again on a fastbreak. Chico Lanete beat the buzzer on a tough pull-up jumper and Fortuna added two more from the stripe for eight straight points, pushing the difference up to 15 points, 88-73, with 4:28 remaining match-up game highlights and replay here.

The Hotshots finally started to get some offense in after that point but Barako Bull, and Fortuna in particular, had an answer for everything Star threw at them.
