Cliff Hodge scored a career-high points and carried the Meralco Bolts to their first-ever finals appearance in franchise history after finishing off No.1 seed TNT KaTropa, 94-88, in Game Four of the best-of-five PBA Governors’ Cup semifinals Monday night at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Hodge also grabbed four boards and buried the dagger triple with 50 seconds remaining that doused TNT’s comeback from 10 points in the fourth quarter.

Meralco sealed the series, 3-1, after beating TNT, which only lost once in the 11-game elimination round, for three straight outings.

Hodge also got ample help from import Allen Durham who tallied 19 points and 16 boards.

Jayson Castro finished with 25 points, eight rebounds and six assists but was ejected in the fourth quarter for incurring two flagrant one fouls on Chris Newsome.

Meralco trailed by as many as nine points in the second quarter but an eight-point spurt by Hodge shaved their deficit to four, 44-40, at the half.

Reynel Hugnatan, who finished the game with 16 markers, then scored six straight points in a crucial points that helped Meralco finally grab the lead, 56-55, in the third quarter.

The Bolts pushed their lead to eight in the early goings of the fourth frame and maintained the advantage after answering repeated runs by TNT.
