Nonito Donaire vs Nicholas Walters full fight video, replay, recap. Walters defeats Donaire with a sixth round TKO.

Jamaican undefeated fighter, Nicholas Walters, defeated Nonito Donaire and went from WBA World Featherweight champion to WBA Super World featherweight champion.
Walters said afterwards “Nonito is a wonderful person, this is boxing, he caught me earlier in the fight, and then I caught him with a good punch”.

Walters looked very good but also part of what made him look so good was Donaire’s own performance.

Donaire was looking for one shot. He was hoping to catch lightening in a bottle and almost did at the end of the second round. This is not the first time in Doniare’s career either this has occurred. He fell in love with his power and believed in it until the end.

Donaire was throwing one punch at a time and getting picked apart in between by Walters. Doniare was hoping to land that one big counter shot but forgot that he needed to properly set that up. And Walters took full advantage of what Doniare was doing and kept taking what was given him breaking Doniare down eventually as well setting up his own KO. Simply put, Walters properly did the work to get the KO and Doniare did not. That was the difference and that’s why Walters won.

And let me say this too. Please Top Rank and HBO no marinating here. If Lomachenko wins next month, and he should easily, lets make Lomachecnko-Walters for the spring of 2015. Not fights in between, no building up the fighters just make it happen. Its a great fight now and needs to be made now.

As for Doniare, well anyone remember all the talk in 2012/2013 of Donaire-Mares. Well that fight may be appropriate for both right now. Its not as big as it was then but is still a significant fight and the winner is well positioned for something much bigger down the road.

I think all of us on TSS would love to see a Walters-Lomachenko battle. But, unfortunately, to use your words, oubobcat, I think Top Rank and HBO are going to plan on one more fight for Walters before putting him in against V-Lo. There may even be another defense in the works for V-Lo.

The good news will be later in 2015.

V-Lo is clamoring for big names. While Walters is not yet a big name, he is suddenly a star on the rise and he does own a major title. The chances are pretty good that V-Lo and Walters will be standing across the ring from one another by the start of the Summer of 2015.

Many champions like to pick and choose their opposition, so as to be able to hang onto their title a bit longer and garner a few more large paydays. It’s totally understandable. V-Lo doesn’t want to do that. He is asking for one top name after another.

Walters and Lomachenko may not face each other in the first three months of 2015, but it won’t be too much longer for many of us to get what we started asking for right after Walters wrecked Nonito Donaire:
