Proudly present two big name Filipino boxers will both fight on November 5,2015 against Jessie Vargas Pacquiao’s contender while Jessie Magdaleno will face off “the filipino flash” Nonito Donaire Jr.
According to a report from ABS-CBN’s News Bev Llorente, Top Rank Boxing CEO Bob Arum announced that Donaire will be taking on unbeaten Mexican-American Jesse Magdaleno, possibly for Donaire’s WBO Super Bantamweight title.
“We are looking to do something really spectacular for all Filipino people.” Arum said.
The 33-year old Donaire (37-3, 24 KO) is coming off a successful first title defense, knocking out Hungarian Olympian Zsolt Bedak in the third round in Cebu back in April.
Magdaleno, 24, boasts an unbeaten 23-0 professional record with 17 of his wins coming by way of knockout. In his last bout, Magdaleno knocked out Pinoy boxer Rey Perez in the seventh round. This will be Magdaleno’s first shot at a world title.
The Donaire-Magdaleno bout will serve as the co-main event to the Pacquiao-Vargas match at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, which will be offering a whopping 6,800 seats at just $50.
According to Arum, one of the reasons why the fights will be held at the Thomas and Mack Center is to be able to cater to a larger Filipino audience.
“When we made the fight, one of the reasons why we are in Thomas and Mack, it sets up so that we can have more than 6000 seats that we are charging 50 dollars from, so that the Filipinos who come here who usually watch it on closed circuit can watch it for as low as 50 dollars.
“Its gonna be packed with Filipino fans.” Arum added.
