Leemore, California – 2012 Olympian Jose Ramirez (18-0, 13 KOs) stopped Tomas Mendez (22-8, 14 KOs) in four rounds to retain the WBC Continental Americas title.
The fight appeared to be a wipeout after Mendez went down three times in round one.
A big left sent Mendez down the first time, and then a big combination of shots put him down again. Mendez was trying to survive when a shot to the body sent him down for a third time. Ramirez was unable to finish him off, but beat him up round after round until the referee finally waved off the fight in the fourth.
Super featherweight prospect Andy Vences, (16-0, 10 KOs), won an eight round unanimous decision over Moises Delgadillo, (17-15-2, 8 KOs). The scores were 77-75, 78-74, and 79-73.
In an upset, Ernesto Martinez, (12-10-1, 6 KOs) knocked out previously undefeated super middleweight prospect Joe Louie Lopez, (8-1, 5 KOs) with a single shot in 19 seconds of the first round.
Lightweight Eric Altamirano, (8-0, 6 KOs) stopped Daniel Tran, (4-5-1, 2 KOs) in the sixth round.
Featherweight Efren Lopez, (1-0, 1 KO) blew away Barry Dudley, (0-3) in the first round.
Super lightweight Ector Madera, (1-0, 0 KOs) won a four round unanimous decision over Kevin Davila, (1-3-2, 0 KOs). All three judges saw it 40-36.
