Game #49 of OPPO PBA Commissioner’s Cup 2016 final score result Purefoods Star Hotshots March 27, 2016 reviews and recap. Venues place at Smart Araneta Coliseum, Sunday match-up ball game will start at 5:15pm.
The San Miguel Beermen, even without MVP June Mar Fajardo and Arwind Santos, cruised to victory over sister team Star, 117-98, to snap the Hotshots’ three-game winning streak in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup sponsored by OPPO on Easter Sunday.
Import Tyler Wilkerson turned in an impressive performance, notching 44 points and 17 rebounds to pace San Miguel, which improved to 5-2.
Marcio Lassiter shrugged off a slow start to finish with 25 points while Chris Ross nearly finished with a triple-double 11 points, nine rebounds and 10 assists.
Star was led by Ricardo Ratliffe, who had 33 points and 21 rebounds. James Yap had an explosive start – scoring 15 points in the first quarter – but limped out of the game in the second half with an injury.
Both teams got going early in the game with San Miguel leading Star, 32-30, in the first quarter. Wilkerson and Yap both accounted for half of their respective teams’ outputs in the period.
The game got out of hand in the second half, though, as Lassiter and Wilkerson found their range from beyond the arc.
Lassiter knocked down five three-pointers in the third quarter, where the Beermen extended their lead past the 20-point mark although the Hotshots trimmed that back down to 14 by the end of the quarter.
Wilkerson, though, took over in the fourth, connecting on four triples – with Lassiter adding another – as San Miguel ran away with the game.
Star dropped down to 4-5 after losing for the first time in four games.
