GlobalPort recalls Calvin Warner as replacement for import Brian Williams, The GlobalPort Batang Pier are looking to bring back import Calvin Warner – an undersized power forward – to take over for Brian Williams.
The PBA Commissioner’s Office confirmed that the franchise has requested for a change of import, naming Warner as a replacement for the bigger Williams.
Williams, who stands 6-foot-9, provided some good size for GlobalPort but hasn’t quite been the fit that the franchise was looking to pair with running game of the Batang Pier, anchored on the duo of Terrence Romeo and Stanley Pringle.
Warner, meanwhile, has already shown GlobalPort what he can bring after coming in as a replacement for CJ Leslie last season. Despite his 6-foot-5 frame, he has shown an ability to play bigger than his size – even grabbing 30 rebounds in one game – and to be aggressive on both ends of the floor.
The veteran has played in leagues in Iran, Korea, Lebanon, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, France and Brunei, among others.
