GlobalPort is on a high after Terrence Romeo’s 33 points led the team to its first playoff win in franchise history after beating Barako, 94-85

Ginebra’s epic duel against Star, the Batang Pier will only have a day to prepare for Sunday’s showdown with the Kings. Ginebra also drew a solid outing from Sol Mercado and Scottie Thompson.

Greg Slaughter, however, was limited to his lowest scoring and rebounding output with only 12 points and four rebounds in the Star duel, and it’s a safe bet that the former Rookie of the Year will be eyeing to bounce back against GlobalPort on Sunday.

GlobalPort sprinted back up on offense and Pringle was able to set up a game-tying layup for a trailing Mamaril, who had to finish despite contact with the 7-foot Slaughter.

Regulation ended with the teams deadlocked at 74-apiece.

GlobalPort’s big guns made their presence felt in the overtime. Romeo opened the extra period with a three-pointer and Pringle followed it up with a strong finish on the break, 79-74.

But Ginebra wasn’t without its warriors. Slaughter was sent to the line and made both and Tenorio made another big shot, responding to a Washington three-pointer with the same on the other end. Japeth Aguilar, held silent throughout the game, split from the line to make it a two-point contest, 82-80, with 1:15 remaining.

Pringle, though, made a huge play as he worked his way inside and scored over the defense of Slaughter, 84-80, with 58 seconds left on the clock.

Aguilar, though, drew another foul and went one-for-two from the stripe again before Ginebra got a crucial defensive stop, with Tenorio tipping the ball away from Pringle. Ginebra coach Tim Cone then drew a quick play for his team and Aguilar again found the ball in his hands, putting it in for two points game match-up highlights and replay here , 84-83.
