LIVE BLOG: UE Red Warriors vs UP Fighting Maroons (UAAP Season 78 second round) November 18, 2015 wednesday full preview, scores and result at 2pm Araneta.

Capping off what has been one of the more colorful careers in the collegiate ranks, Chris Javier granted University of the East one last performance to remember him by.

Exhibiting trademark workmanlike attitude, the Red Warriors followed their team captain to a successful conquest of the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, 79-67, at the Araneta Coliseum, Wednesday.

In his last game of what has been a five-year career, Javier posted 13 points, six rebounds, and three assists to lead the Warriors into finishing the season with back-to-back wins. UE actually trailed, 17-18, after the first until Derrick Pumaren tightened the noose on defense and allowed only 10 points in the second.

In the same timeframe, Javier scored six points to almost match their opponent’s output and led his team to a 37-28 lead at the half.

With a 6-8 win-loss card, Derrick Pumaren’s young squad ended just a game shy of the playoffs. Still proud of what he and his team accomplished, the lone graduating Warrior said in the post-win conference, “Sad, pero happy kasi lumaban kami hanggang huli. Alam ko yung mga natira, solid.”
