Hall of Fame Promoter Bob Arum The CEO of Top Rank: asked his top prizefighter Manny Pacquiao to forget about getting a rematch against unbeaten American Floyd Mayweather.
Pacquiao, who last saw action in month of May when he lost to Mayweather by Unanimous decision, recently claimed that there are ongoing talks for a rematch which Arum, his promoter, blatantly denied.
“He would like to fight Mayweather, but since this is his last fight, and looking at where we are on time, I told him he needs to forget about it and move on,” Arum told Los Angeles Times.
Names in the shortlist of Pacquiao’s possible opponents are Amir Khan, Juan Manuel Marquez, Timothy Bradley, Terence Crawford and Viktor Postol.
While a date for Pacquiao’s ring return is yet to be determined, Arum says he’s only looking for the most lucrative deal for his fighter.
“Manny’s willing to fight anybody, but he wants the best deal,” said Arum. “We went over the fights that can make him the most money.”
